To be by the sea again ...it seems everytime I travel to Hua Hin and on this occasion to the neo-classic Rest Detail Hotel - it seems that sleepy little town I knew years ago is suddenly brimming with new life of all kinds, shops, more traffic, more restaurants, more people - trendy new resorts to suit most budgets although most are in the upper end. I first came to this lovely town in September 2000 and stayed for 4 years - it grew on me to such an extent I didn't want to leave and now coming back with all this hive of activity it still hasn't lost any of its original charm - if anything it is probably more complete and more beautified as a destination that is a second home to so many of Thailand's elite. Sort of the way Deauville is to Parisians or the Hamptons to New Yorkers - Hua Hin has as the Royal city of Thailand taken on all the grace of a small seaside resort. The night market and the seafood piers of central Hua Hin make it all the more exciting - because they are originals of the kind so lacking in the more famous southern Thai resort destinations. A day in the life of Hua Hin has on this occasion satisfied my every need for a stressfree luxury vacation I have come to enjoy so much as I get away from the stresses and hassles of the Megapolis Bangkok..... well good that some things don't change too fast
